Seminar on Technology and Gender

As part of celebrating National Science Day 2010 the department organized a one day seminar on 24th February, 2010 supported by Kerala State Council for science, Technology and Environment and DST, Government of India. The topic of the seminar is ‘Technology and Gender’ which falls in line with the focal theme suggested by the council viz ‘Gender equality for prosperity with peace’. The purpose of the seminar was to bring attention to the issues relating to gender and technology and make students, parents and the women of the locality aware of the issues involved. The seminar was inaugurated by Dr. Moly Kuruvilla, Director, Centre for Women’s studies University of Calicut. The principal presided over the function and Sr. Lilly Maria, Head of the Department the audience. Facilitations were offered by Dr. Sr. Irene, Department of Physics Ms. Shymala, C.G., Department of English and Ms. Sunu Paul, President, College Students council. Ms. Shirley Jose, Programme Co-ordination proposed the vote of thanks.
In the technical session papers were presented by Dr. Suma Paulose, Professor and Head, Agronomic Research Station, Kerala, Agricultural University, Dr. Rosy Thampy, Reader, Department of Malayalam and Dr. Chacko Jose P., Department of Economics. Ms Remya Ragunandan, formally thanked the audience.
